Vinnie’s Christmas Hamper Appeal

Christmas is approaching and our Parish would normally be putting up our St James Giving Tree and asking for donations to provide Christmas Hampers to our Community.

This year, because of COVID-19, we are asking for Parishioners and our four schools to assist us with monetary  donations. The money will be given to our vulnerable families in the form of a Coles Gift Voucher(s). We are requesting that this be done by the 11th December so we can deliver in time for families to shop before Christmas.

You can deliver your donation in an envelope and place into Parish After Hours Chute or the Parish Letterbox.

Please note, for this year only, donations towards the St James Giving Tree and the Vinnie’s Christmas Hamper Appeal is via monetary donation only and not through gifts of food, clothes or toys.

We thank you in advance and will keep you in our prayers and thoughts.

This weekend we start the preparations for the creation of Christmas Hampers through Vinnies for families in our community. We are only able to do this through your generosity.

Your donations of non-perishable food, toiletries and new toys can be left in the Narthex underneath the St James Giving Tree. You will be able to find suggestions on the tree to donate. For toys, please indicate what age they are for.

Please note, ideally your donations will need to be received by SUNDAY 15TH DECEMBER as our Vinnie’s Conference plan to make up the bulk of the hampers that week.  Kindly place bagged items underneath the St James Giving Tree for collection.

Thank you also to Cherry, Gerry and Arik for assembling and decorating the St James Giving Tree this year.

On behalf of St Vincent de Paul Society Hoppers Crossing North Conference we would like to sincerely thank the 30 Young Volunteers from the St James Youth Ministry. Their enthusiasm and teamwork efficiently sorted the donated items from the Parish and schools for the St Vinnies Christmas Hampers.  We would especially like to thank Austin Deppeler and Mario Peiris under the guidance of Red Lusterio for the organization of the permission from parents as well as coordinating the volunteers.

These hampers will be delivered by the end of the week by the members of St Vincent de Paul Society to families belonging in our Parish Boundaries including the families from our local schools e.g. St James, St Francis, St Clare’s and Thomas Carr College.

Any further donations under the St James Giving tree of non-perishable goods will now be shipped to the Philippines Mission by the MSSP.
