Father’s Day Message

Father’s Day Message

We give our thanks, Creator God, for the fathers in our lives. Fatherhood does not come with a manual, and reality teaches us that some fathers excel while others find it challenging. We ask for Your blessings for them all and forgiveness where it is needed.

This Father’s Day we remember the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and families, and the ways—both big and small—they lift children to achieve dreams thought beyond reach.
So too, we remember all those who have helped fill the void when fathers pass early or are absent; step fathers and foster fathers, grandfathers and uncles, brothers and cousins, teachers, priests and coaches and the women of our families. For those who are fathers, we ask for wisdom and humility in the face of the task of parenting. Give them the strength to do well by their children and by You. In union with St Joseph, whom you entrusted with Your Son, we ask your generous blessing today and every day. Amen

The Parish Pastoral Council, Frs Jude, Silvio, Mario and Brendan and Dcn Royden wish all our fathers a happy and blessed Father’s Day .

Our next big celebration as a Parish Community will be to celebrate our fathers on Sunday 6th September at 10:30am. We invite you to join our live Mass via Zoom from 9:45am onwards:

Zoom Meeting ID: 861 5855 2280
No Passcode

You are welcome to join and greet each other and catch up with one another before and after the celebration of the Mass.

For that weekend, as Mass will be live on Sunday at 10:30am, the Mass will be available to view from our website and Facebook only after 10:30am on the Sunday. Weekend Mass will not be available before then.

To get the most out of the experience, on the day we invite you to take a minute to check in and be aware of your surroundings. Do you have a reverent space to celebrate in today? Are you sitting comfortably and able to concentrate? Is your heart open to listen to and give thanks to God for all he has done for us?

In order to celebrate fathers who are not with us, either through death, distance or separation, we invite you to prepare a lighted candle before Mass in honour of them.

(Note, please be fire conscious if using a lit candle. Alternatively, you may wish to use a fake candle or an app).

If you would like to take part in the photo collage for our fathers and grandfathers, this weekend (by the end of the day on Sun 30 Aug) is your last opportunity to send in your pictures of your father or grandfather to [email protected]

We look forward to celebrating community with all of you!
