St Vincent De Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal

We would like to thank Parishioners, St James, St Francis and St Clare’s Primary, Thomas Carr College and IGA Werribee for the generous support to the Vinnie’s Christmas Appeal 2020.

We are overwhelmed and thankful for the donations received, especially after a tough 2020. Your continued belief and support has enabled us to provide assistance to those in need through food vouchers this year as well as providing them with the Christmas spirit. We would like to share the many thanks from all those who received help as well, who all had a smile on their face when help was given, arms opened for a hug to thank us and the tears of gratitude.

Thank you and wishing you a safe and very Merry Christmas from the Hoppers Crossing North St Vincent de Paul Conference.

Christmas is near! but COVID-19 is still with us. In our Paulist Centre we can only fit 300 people under the COVID precautions. All Masses will now be live-streamed on the St James Facebook page, which is a public page and can be accessed by everyone. We suggest you bring your smart phone with you and participate in Mass through Facebook. At Communion time, ministers will be available to distribute Communion outside. Thank you to those who have volunteered to assist our community as Ushers and Welcomers for the weekend Masses. Your service and generosity is what allows us to be able to have Masses during this Covid-normal time.

We are looking for more volunteers who are willing to be trained up as an Usher/Welcomer for future Masses, especially for the Christmas period where we will need more Ushers/Welcomers.

If you are able to assist us, kindly contact the Parish Office this week on 9401 6367 or at [email protected]

Christmas Message of Thanks

As we celebrate the beautiful Feast of Christmas, I would like to thank all Parishioners for the kindness, support and generosity shown to me, Silvio, Brendan, Royden and Can, in so many ways over the year. It is truly appreciated.

I wish to express a particular word of thanks to all who are involved in any Parish Committee or Ministry, in particular to the Parish Council. Your giving of your time ensures that our Parish is a vibrant one where the message of Jesus Christ is witnessed to in a whole variety of ways. Your input makes such a huge difference to the Parish.

A word of thanks too goes to the Parish Staff who go about their work in such an efficient manner. Their work makes mine that much easier.

In all areas of the Parish there is a lot of voluntary work done that enhances the community and makes it a better place for us all to live in.

Congratulations to all in the Parish who celebrated marriage and baptism during the year. They are happy occasions that we all rejoice in.

As we come to Christmas let us spare a thought for those who have lost a loved one during the year as Christmas can be a difficult time for all who were bereaved during 2019. Let us keep them and indeed all who are sick or facing any challenge in our prayers at this time.

Likewise let us think of those who are far away from home. Distance separates us but you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I thank all who do such great work in the schools of the Parish at both primary and secondary level and to all who give so generously of their time to voluntary organisations in all five areas of the Parish. Our community is a much better place as a result of your efforts.

2020 will be an exciting time of changes calling us not to be afraid but rather to embrace it with patience, understanding and openness as we move forward in hope.

As we celebrate Christmas we welcome Emmanuel a name which means God is with us.

May God be with us all as we go forward. May you all experience his presence during this Christmas time and throughout 2020.

On behalf of the Parish Team and the MSSP Community, I wish you and your families a joyous Christmas and a safe and blessed New Year.

Fr Jude
