Vinnies Winter Appeal – Postponed

Everyday at Vinnies, we see that ordinary people can make an extraordinary difference in their local communities.  We are inspired by the joy of the Gospel and our Catholic social teachings to do the things that matter.

The new date for the Vinnies Winter Appeal will be on the weekend of 14/15 Aug.  A collection will be taken up on the day or alternatively, you may deliver your donation in an envelope to the Parish Office if more convenient.

With the uncertainty posed by the Lockdown and gathering restrictions, this appeal will now be postponed to a date to be determined.

We would like to thank Parishioners, St James, St Francis and St Clare’s Primary, Thomas Carr College and IGA Werribee for the generous support to the Vinnie’s Christmas Appeal 2020.

We are overwhelmed and thankful for the donations received, especially after a tough 2020. Your continued belief and support has enabled us to provide assistance to those in need through food vouchers this year as well as providing them with the Christmas spirit. We would like to share the many thanks from all those who received help as well, who all had a smile on their face when help was given, arms opened for a hug to thank us and the tears of gratitude.

Thank you and wishing you a safe and very Merry Christmas from the Hoppers Crossing North St Vincent de Paul Conference.

Vinnie’s Bushfire Appeal

With the tragic bush fires around the country, Archbishop Comensoli writes:

“To all those facing the uncertainty, danger and devastation of the fires to the north, please know that you are in our heartfelt prayers…

…St Vincent de Paul are on the ground throughout our communities providing support in those life-giving ways that people need in times of disaster and tragedy. May I encourage our people of Melbourne and beyond to support the Vinnies Bushfire Appeal through www.vinnies.org.au or through your local parish”

Please consider supporting Vinnies in their vital work at this time.

This weekend we start the preparations for the creation of Christmas Hampers through Vinnies for families in our community. We are only able to do this through your generosity.

Your donations of non-perishable food, toiletries and new toys can be left in the Narthex underneath the St James Giving Tree. You will be able to find suggestions on the tree to donate. For toys, please indicate what age they are for.

Please note, ideally your donations will need to be received by SUNDAY 15TH DECEMBER as our Vinnie’s Conference plan to make up the bulk of the hampers that week.  Kindly place bagged items underneath the St James Giving Tree for collection.

Thank you also to Cherry, Gerry and Arik for assembling and decorating the St James Giving Tree this year.
